Idaho Man Israel Castrejon Death and Obituary – A 27-year-old Nampa resident, Israel Castrejon Trejo, tragically lost his life on Sunday afternoon following a road rage confrontation that escalated into a deadly shooting near a McDonald’s restaurant in Meridian. Authorities confirmed that Jacob Streat, 23, also from Nampa, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the incident.

The shooting occurred near 195 E. Central Avenue, close to the Meridian exit of Interstate 84. According to the Ada County Coroner’s Office, Trejo suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders performed lifesaving measures, but Trejo was officially declared dead at 4:38 p.m.
The Meridian Police Department reported that officers were dispatched at approximately 12:39 p.m. after multiple 911 calls reported gunfire near the McDonald’s parking lot. Witnesses indicated that Trejo and Streat had confronted each other following what authorities believe was a road rage incident involving two vehicles traveling eastbound from Nampa: a silver 2023 Toyota Tacoma and a blue 2009 Honda Accord.
Investigators allege that Streat fired more than a dozen rounds at Trejo during the altercation. Trejo was found unarmed and critically injured when officers arrived. Streat remained at the scene and was taken into custody without incident. His bond has been set at $2 million, and he is scheduled for arraignment on Monday.
Police emphasized that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident, with no ongoing threat to the public. Detectives continue to review witness statements, surveillance footage, and other evidence collected from the scene to reconstruct the events that led to the fatal shooting.
Witnesses described the encounter as rapidly escalating, highlighting the dangers of road rage and public confrontations. The incident took place in a busy commercial corridor, and law enforcement secured the area while processing the scene. Authorities are also examining multiple surveillance cameras nearby to gather additional evidence.
The Ada County Coroner’s Office publicly identified Trejo on Tuesday, confirming he was a Nampa resident. Friends and family remembered him as a young man whose life was abruptly ended in a violent act. Authorities continue to review the case with the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office, and no other suspects have been identified.
The Meridian Police Department urges anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward. Officials also advised residents to avoid confrontations on the road or in public spaces and to report dangerous behavior to law enforcement rather than intervene themselves.
The investigation remains active as local authorities work alongside the Ada County Coroner’s Office and other agencies to ensure a thorough review of the events surrounding this tragic death.
