Daniel Barnhart, JACKSON TWP., NORTHUMBERLAND CO. – Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred Thursday evening in Jackson Township, resulting in the death of a man from Herndon. Authorities confirmed the incident involved a single vehicle and remains under review as investigators work to determine what led to the crash.

According to state police, troopers from the Stonington barracks were dispatched to the 6000 block of State Route 147 shortly before 7 p.m. on January 29 after receiving reports of a vehicle that had left the roadway. When officers arrived, they located a pickup truck that had been involved in the crash along a stretch of the highway.

Police identified the driver as 39-year-old Daniel Barnhart of Herndon. Investigators stated that Barnhart was driving a 2008 Ford F-150 at the time of the incident. For reasons that have not yet been determined, the vehicle traveled off the road and came to rest after striking terrain alongside the highway.

Emergency responders conducted a search of the area and located the driver near the crash site. Despite lifesaving efforts, Barnhart was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities have not released further details about the moments leading up to the crash, noting that the investigation is ongoing.
