The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Christopher Paul Ohlmeyer of River Ridge. Officials confirmed that Ohlmeyer was serving as a motorcycle escort for the procession when the crash occurred along Airline Highway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to law enforcement officials, Ohlmeyer was a veteran deputy with 16 years of service in law enforcement, including 14 years with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. Colleagues described him as a dedicated public servant who had spent much of his career supporting community safety and assisting fellow officers.
