At approximately 1:39 a.m., Hart County 911 received a call reporting a fire at a residence located at 338 Old Sardis Drive. Deputies from the Hart County Sheriff’s Office and firefighters from Hart County Fire responded immediately, rushing to the scene under dangerous conditions. Their priority was to ensure the safety of anyone who might have been inside the home.
Upon arrival, first responders acted with courage and determination, breaking a window at the part of the house where Mr. Patterson was known to spend most of his time. Through that window, they located him and carefully extricated him from the residence. Life-saving measures were promptly administered on the scene until Hart County EMS arrived. Despite the valiant efforts of all involved, Mr. Patterson tragically succumbed to his injuries. The Hart County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene to assist with the investigation and official confirmation of his passing.
