The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. in the 1000 block of Highway 87 near Jose’s Cantina. According to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, Breland ran across the roadway and was struck by a westbound vehicle. Sheriff Jimmy Fullen confirmed that the crash does not appear to be criminal in nature, and no charges are expected.
“Investigators interviewed witnesses and reviewed available video related to the crash,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. The highway was closed for several hours while authorities conducted their investigation.
