MACON, Ga.— Authorities have identified 28-year-old Ayana Smith as the woman fatally shot Tuesday evening, along with her 2-year-old daughter, in a devastating incident outside a residence in the 300 block of Fulton Street, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The call came into the Macon-Bibb Emergency 911 Center just before 8:30 p.m., reporting a person down. Deputies arrived on the scene to find both Smith and her young daughter suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics immediately transported the victims to a nearby medical facility for emergency care. Tragically, Smith succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, while her daughter remains hospitalized in stable condition.
