Dylan Sanphy Obituary Death: Dylan Sanphy, 26, of Gorham Has Passed Away

POLAND — With heavy hearts, we remember and honor the life of Dylan Sanphy, 26, of Gorham, who tragically lost his life on February 10, 2026, following a two-vehicle collision on Plains Road in Poland.

According to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and Poland Fire-Rescue responded at approximately 3:40 p.m. to the 300 block of Plains Road for a reported head-on crash. Preliminary findings indicate that a silver 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, operated by Edward Morris, 52, of Mechanic Falls, was traveling westbound while towing an enclosed snowmobile trailer.

At the same time, Dylan was traveling eastbound in a gray 2016 Jeep Cherokee. During an attempt to pass another vehicle, described as a Subaru, the Jeep collided head-on with the Chevrolet pickup truck. The impact occurred in the westbound lane, and both vehicles sustained significant front-end damage and were deemed totaled.

Dylan was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Two adult female passengers traveling with Dylan sustained serious injuries and were transported to Central Maine Medical Center for treatment. Mr. Morris was evaluated at the scene and did not require transport. A crash reconstructionist assisted at the scene, along with multiple supporting agencies, including the Mechanic Falls Police Department, Oxford Fire-Rescue, and Auburn Fire-Rescue. Authorities continue to investigate the crash and are seeking information from the occupant(s) of the Subaru involved in the passing maneuver.

While investigators work to piece together the events of that afternoon, those who knew and loved Dylan are left grappling with an unimaginable loss.

At just 26 years old, Dylan’s life was still unfolding — filled with plans, dreams, friendships, and the promise of years ahead. To lose someone so young is a heartbreak that echoes deeply through family, friends, and community. He was a son, perhaps a brother, a friend — someone whose laughter, energy, and presence brought light into the lives of others.

Youth carries with it a vibrancy that cannot be replaced. Dylan’s passing is a stark reminder of how quickly life can change in a single moment. What began as an ordinary February afternoon ended in tragedy, leaving loved ones to hold onto memories that now mean more than ever.

Those closest to Dylan will remember him not for the final moments on Plains Road, but for the countless ordinary and extraordinary moments that defined who he was — shared jokes, late-night conversations, time spent outdoors, drives with music playing, the warmth of friendship, and the comfort of family gatherings.

In times like these, a community often rallies together in support. Poland, Gorham, and surrounding towns feel the weight of this loss, and compassion flows toward those most deeply affected. The thoughts and prayers of many are with Dylan’s family as they navigate days that feel heavier than words can express.

As the investigation continues, may we all be reminded of the importance of patience and care on the road, and of cherishing those we love without delay. Life is fragile, and every moment is precious.

To the Sanphy family and all who mourn Dylan’s passing, we extend our deepest condolences. May you find strength in one another, comfort in shared memories, and peace in knowing that Dylan’s life — though far too short — left a lasting mark on those who knew him.

Rest in peace, Dylan Sanphy.
You will be remembered in love, always.
