What followed was a fast-moving and tragic series of events that ended in Saber being shot by an officer after police say he advanced toward them with a machete. Despite life-saving efforts by officers and paramedics, Saber later passed away at the hospital.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation has been called in to conduct an independent investigation, and the officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave, as is standard procedure. The investigation remains ongoing.
