With heavy hearts, the Bloomington community mourns the tragic loss of Mariah Kletz, a beloved 16-year-old whose life ended far too soon. On the morning of Saturday, February 7, 2026, at approximately 10:46 a.m., Bloomington Police officers were dispatched to a residence on Canada Lane following a report of a cardiac arrest. Paramedics with the Bloomington Fire Department responded alongside officers, moving swiftly and compassionately to provide emergency care.

Upon arrival, first responders located Mariah inside the home and immediately initiated life-saving measures. Despite their tireless efforts, Mariah was heartbreakingly pronounced deceased at the scene by the McLean County Coroner’s Office at 11:40 a.m. Her passing has left an immeasurable void in the lives of her family, friends, classmates, and all who knew her.
Mariah was a young soul with a future full of promise—someone whose presence brought light, warmth, and meaning to the world around her. At just sixteen, she carried dreams still unfolding and memories still to be made. Her loss is felt deeply across Bloomington, where thoughts and prayers continue to surround her loved ones during this unimaginable time.
Authorities have indicated that preliminary findings suggest there is no threat to the public. The circumstances surrounding Mariah’s death remain under active investigation by the Bloomington Police Department in coordination with the McLean County Coroner’s Office. Out of respect for the integrity of the investigation and for the family’s privacy, no additional information will be released at this time.
