Kateryna Tovmash, Matthew Wade, Moore County Authorities Identify Victims in Valentine’s Day Double Homicide; Suspect Arrested in Ohio

Authorities in Moore County have released the names of two individuals who died in a Valentine’s Day shooting in the Woodlake community and confirmed the arrest of a suspect hours after the incident.

According to a statement from the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a shooting around 7:45 p.m. Saturday at a residence on Daphne Lane, near the shoreline of the former Lake Surf. The home is located in the gated Woodlake community, approximately three miles east of Vass.

When deputies arrived, they found a man and a woman deceased inside the residence. Authorities said the suspect had already left the area before law enforcement reached the scene.

Investigators identified the victims as 21-year-old Kateryna Tovmash of Vass and 28-year-old Matthew Wade of Hamilton. Officials stated that the shooting occurred at Tovmash’s home.

The Sheriff’s Office also confirmed that Wade was stationed at Fort Bragg. No additional details about his service were released.

Law enforcement officials identified the suspect as 25-year-old Caleb Hayden Fosnaugh. Authorities allege that Fosnaugh fled the scene shortly after the incident. Moore County deputies coordinated with law enforcement agencies in Ohio, where the suspect was located and taken into custody just hours later.

Investigators further disclosed that Fosnaugh and Tovmash had previously been in a relationship while living in Ohio. Authorities have not provided additional details about the nature of that relationship but confirmed it is part of the ongoing investigation.

Deputies said warrants have been issued charging Fosnaugh with two counts of murder, as well as breaking and entering in connection with unlawfully entering the residence. The suspect is expected to face extradition proceedings as the legal process moves forward.

The investigation remains active, and officials have not released further information regarding possible motives or circumstances surrounding the case.

In their public statement, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office extended condolences to those affected by the tragedy.

“The Moore County Sheriff’s Office asks the community to keep the families and loved ones of Kateryna Tovmash and Matthew Wade in their thoughts and prayers,” the release stated.

Authorities have encouraged anyone with additional information related to the case to contact the Sheriff’s Office. Further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.

Community members in the Woodlake area have expressed concern following the incident, but officials have not indicated any ongoing threat to the public. Law enforcement agencies emphasized their continued commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents.

This remains a developing story, and more information may be released as it becomes available through official channels.
