Auburn University and local law enforcement are investigating after a student was discovered dead on the university’s campus in Auburn, Alabama, early Friday morning.
Campus police and Auburn City officials responded to a report of an unresponsive person in a campus residence hall around 7:30 a.m., according to a statement released by university public safety officials. The individual, whose identity has not yet been publicly released pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators have not confirmed a cause of death, but authorities are treating the incident as a suspected suicide and say foul play is not currently suspected. The Lee County Coroner’s Office is conducting an examination to determine the official cause and manner of death, and additional details have not yet been released as the investigation continues.
