It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Kenneth Douglas Hunter of Smithville, Ontario. Kenneth left this world suddenly on March 2, 2026, in Hamilton, Ontario, at the age of 26, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories for all who knew him.

Born on March 14, 1999, Kenneth lived his life with passion and soul, captivating everyone with his vibrant spirit and kind heart. He was known for his love of adventure whether that meant hitting the trails on his beloved dirt bike, casting a line on a quiet morning of fishing, or simply soaking in the great outdoors. His zest for life was infectious, and he approached every moment with enthusiasm and courage.
Kenneth was a devoted son, brother, nephew, grandson, and friend. He is survived by his loving mother, Nicole Hunter, who was his steadfast support and closest companion. He was predeceased by his father, Lyle Hunter (d. 2022), and his grandmother Kim, whose memories remained close to his heart.
Kenneth’s siblings held a special place in his life. He is lovingly remembered by Nathan, Colton, Emily, and Wyatt, with whom he shared countless laughter, shared experiences, and a bond that will forever be treasured. His grand‑father Serge, aunts and uncles Vanda, Tia, Taylor, Rayven, and James, along with many cousins and extended family members, also survive him and grieve the loss of such a bright and beloved soul.
Loved ones remember Kenneth as someone who walked through life with compassion. He had a natural ability to connect with people always ready with a warm embrace, an encouraging word, or a heartfelt laugh. He was known for giving the biggest hugs, supporting his friends in difficult times, and celebrating with them in moments of joy. These qualities endeared him to a wide circle of friends who have expressed profound grief at his passing.
Friends and extended family will gather to honor his life and reflect on the wonderful memories they shared. A visitation was held on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Merritt Funeral Home in Smithville. A private family burial will be held at a later date in accordance with the wishes of the loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial donations may be made in Kenneth’s name to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), supporting a cause close to the family’s heart.
Although his life was brief, Kenneth’s impact was profound. He inspired those around him to live fully, to cherish connection, and to spread kindness wherever they went. Kenneth’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him, a reminder of joy, strength, and love.
