The Lorain County community is mourning the sudden loss of two young lives following a tragic car accident that claimed the lives of EHOVE Career Center students Paige Williams and Lucille Hopkins. The accident occurred at Beaver Creek Marina, where a black Chevy sedan crashed into the water, leaving authorities and families heartbroken.

According to Lorain County Coroner Dr. Frank Miller, the two teens recovered from the vehicle were identified as 17-year-old Paige Williams, a senior Cosmetology student at EHOVE Career Center, and 18-year-old Lucille Hopkins, a recent graduate of the Class of 2025. Both young women were remembered by classmates, friends, and family as vibrant, kind-hearted, and full of promise.
A statement from Superintendent Chris M. McCully of EHOVE Career Center expressed the school’s deep sorrow:
“Dear EHOVE Family, it is with a heavy heart that I share the tragic news that two members of our EHOVE family were involved in a car accident and have passed away. Paige Williams, one of our current seniors, and Lucille Hopkins, a recent graduate, were bright, talented young women who touched the lives of many. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families during this devastating time.”
Friends described Paige and Lucille as cheerful, compassionate, and committed students who had a bright future ahead. Paige, in particular, was pursuing her passion for cosmetology and had shown remarkable talent in her field, earning the admiration of her instructors and peers alike. Lucille was known for her warmth, outgoing personality, and dedication to her studies, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew her.
The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation. Authorities continue to urge anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing inquiry.
The Lorain community has begun to rally around the families, sharing condolences and memories of the two teens on social media and at the school. Plans for memorial services are being finalized, and EHOVE Career Center has indicated that grief support resources will be made available to students and staff impacted by this loss.
Paige Williams and Lucille Hopkins’ untimely passing is a tragic reminder of the fragility of life. Their families, friends, and the Lorain County community will remember them not only for the lives they lived but also for the joy and positivity they brought to those around them.
